"If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation,
we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation. “

YOGO KIDS, is the child centred branch of my yoga teaching practice. My aim is to provide a fun and non-competitive setting for children aged 5-10 to develop their physical and cognitive functions whilst cultivating a sense of empathy and compassion.
Children's yoga uses age appropriate yoga poses, breath work and meditation, alongside fun games, storytelling and playful movement to help children to develop a better awareness of, and relationship with, themselves and the world around them.
Yoga poses give children an opportunity to develop neuromuscular pathways with balancing postures and also holding certain poses that use some smaller muscles. Simultaneously the children are learning how to manage and understand their developing emotions through games, simple breath work, storytelling and simple meditation. Classes encourage autonomy and children gain confidence in themselves and their decision making.
As an experienced teacher, I adopt a collaborative approach where the children are encouraged to be creative and to influence the direction of class towards their own specific needs and abilities. This helps children develop their cognitive functions in relation to focus, concentration, memory and creativity.
Classes are designed with an awareness of age specific developmental milestones and individual abilities, and suitable for any child aged 4-10.
Classes can be divided into 3 age groups
4-6 years old - The Yogi Bears
6 -8 years old - The Little Warriors
8-10 years old - The Budding Buddhas
